in  Drachten, Netherland

Software used: Autocad, Photoshop, Ilustrator, Sketch Up and C++

Woonerf is widely used in Netherland’s traffic system since 2001. It is a shared public space for pedestrian, cyclist and automobile. In shared space all the traffic signs, lane divider, crossing points and curbs or even sidewalks are removed. Dutch traffic engineer Hans Monderman first came up with the
idea. His idea is to increase the social interaction among the users.

The whole system depends on eye contact and one to one interaction. However, this process does not work for visually impaired people. Design approach is to analyze the existing technology being used for crossing and as well as cutting edge technology that can be used for this very problem.
